Ponctoan Spear Historical Time Travel Book 1 eBook TA Walters

Overall, I liked this story. It has a unique angle, told from the perspective of an original Floridian Native American, when Spanish explorers were just getting a foothold on the area. The Ponctoans find a stone that has unusual powers, including time travel as well as practical applications. However, I found the story lacking in two area: one was some simple editing issues, which did not distract me from the overall tale. The other area I believe needed a bit more beefing up was to better establish the initial premise. We understand that this stone has special powers, but the reason why the Ponctoans were more lost when exposed to modern society was not well established. I would have thought that someone uprooted from a simple society and placed in a city of today would be completely overwhelmed and have serious difficulties adjusting. However, the main characters seem to take the change in stride. A bit more of a struggle would seem more likely. It was a good effort, and the ideas and characters came together as the book progressed. It seems that a followup would be in order. One last thought: I would suggest this book without hesitation to teens.

Ponctoan Spear Historical Time Travel Book 1 eBook TA Walters Reviews

This book is written by someone with an immense imagination. It was a little hard in the beginning with terms that were unknown to me but I was soon able to follow the thought. The writers grasp on the subject matter and his ability to move through time and bring the problems associated with those moves with the characters was amazing. I found his writing style familiar and different at the same time, which kept me going. I would suggest that this writer maybe get someone to edit his book who he trust with his story line so that the editor could catch some of the mistakes that were overlooked. This in no means suggest that the book it poorly written or lacks in attention to detail, it is just an observation. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good book and likes science fiction in particular. Is there a follow up to this book, the end of the story seems to indicate that there is. I am not a science fiction reader as a general rule but found this book refreshing in the authors bringing the past and present together. Keep going, you are a good author.
I read ponctoan spear in just a couple days it is a smooth easy to read book. So here are the pros and cons of this book and why I rated it 4 stars.
pros The book tells a mind bending story, and I like to use my immagination, so I was pleased. The book has a reminicent flare of childhood stories of my past which is unique in books these days. I am not sure if the author was attempting to make this book seem like a campfire story, or tribal folklore, either way it was a nice diversion from the same-old routine of ordinary books. I would feel comfortable giving this book to a young reader, it is not vulgar, or offensive in any way. I always had a difficult time finding books for my teenage daughter. I like science fiction and its hard to find something that doesnt bore you to death.
cons This author needs a better proof reader, there are a number of errors in the grammer department. Also, at times I felt like it was written for younger readers because the author explained things that you would not normally need to explain.
The resulting rating is as follows
content 5 stars
originality 5 stars
entertaining 5 stars
what pulls the rating down is the grammer, but do not let that stop you from enjoying a really cool experience.
Interesting concept. I love time travel and the author mixed this with native american history. Some of it was "um yeah, like that would happen" but as long as you went with it you fine. The book starts with a trilobite many millennia ago then zips up to a tribe in Florida in 1530. The rest of the book bounces between 1530 and 1966. The concept is interesting, the author engaging and rather professional. There's a few times I as a writer looked at sentences and thought I would have worded it differently but most of the time it was good. Not too many slow chapters focusing on monotonous daily life (unlike so many other books). The author sets up the story for another book by purposely leaving loose ends. We'll see where it goes from here.
