Shorter stories are tough. You have to set up the story, characters, scene--everything in an economical fashion without looking rushed. You have to leave the reader feeling it was long enough to get the stories within the story spelled out. Some can't do in 200 pages what this writer managed to do in 70 pages. The characters are all nicely fleshed out, even the supporting ones. There are a few tokens, such as the lecherous boss and the ditzy sister, but even she gets her say in the end. This story is well worth the cost in money and time to read it. I admire the writer's relaxed prose. It takes many rewrites to achieve that relaxed, flowing story style. For once, in the short story, the length was just right.Product details

This was a cute fast reading book. It had good characters and well formed. The sizzle between Henry and Elizabeth was well written and the descriptions of the homes made you ready to start house hunting for that special place. I will read it again just for fun.
I am a true fan of lisa scott!! I love her short stories. I am a busy mom of 2 little boys and I don't have time to get into a long book. This is such a romantic and wonderful story. It was just long enough for me to enjoy and get carried away in and still have my kids in bed at their bedtime!! LOL
I was hooked almost from the first page by this writer's fresh, fun voice and great sense of humor. But it was the characters, Elizabeth and Henry, who kept me flipping pages. Their relationship, which developed while Liz was searching for the perfect house, was sweet, but with just enough sizzle to make me remember how good a closed door love story can be.
"Spouse Hunting" is a quick read for a summer afternoon. It is also a bargain priced first glimpse of an author on the rise.
Yes this story follows the genre's formula but it is tightly written with characters you will like and pull for. I am not a fan of short stories because they leave wanting more but this was satisfying and a fun read. I think it's worth its price. Next time I want an easy light read I will look to Lisa first.
I love this author. I found her with a free read, Ex On The Beach, and immediately bought more. Though my passion lies with paranormal and erotica, it was very refreshing to read this new author's work. So far the ones I have read are very feel-good-stories that make you happy with laughter and tears (based on sweet happiness). I'm going to have to read everything she writes. Thanks Lisa for lovely stories!
This story was very cute! I read this yrs ago, but I'm only now getting around to posting a review -P. I love most of Lisa Scott's short stories and novellas and if you're into romantic fiction, but you don't feel like wading through 200+ pages, but you also want good writing, I suggest you try this. -)
Lisa Scott's entry into the world with "Spouse Hunting" is a fast-paced, fun romance with two people who are not only house-hunting, but looking for themselves. Henry the realtor finds very creative ways to show potential homes to his client, Elizabeth. Both characters have their issues to overcome before they can find happiness in each other. The best part of this book is Scott's writing style. She throws in many witty little asides and inserts humor into Elizabeth's most stressful moments. The HEA is never in doubt, but it's fun to ride along on the home tours to see how they get there. Keep an eye out for more from Ms. Scott. This one is just the beginning.
